Julia Cizeski - Fine Artist & Art Therapist

Julia Cizeski is a fine artist, mental health counselor, and art therapist based in Connecticut.  She studied traditional Florentine methods of gold leafing at Studio Art Centers International in Italy and has a B.S. in art and art history from Skidmore College in New York.  In 2014, she earned her masters in counseling and art therapy from Southwestern College in Santa Fe.  Julia is known for her upcycled cigarette paper birds, which were inspired by her time living in New Mexico.

Julia is currently studying at Yale School of Nursing to become a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in order to integrate a medical perspective into her knowledge of psychotherapeutic techniques and to expand her role as a helping professional.

Her art is informed by her clinical work and explores themes of trauma, addiction, illness, consumerism, environmental destruction, and our human struggle to stay connected with the natural world.
